The T-1000 design uses two mid / bass drivers and a central driver, inside of which is an Induction-Coupled Tweeter (ICT) device. This is a clever piece of equipment,
not the smoothest or sweetest way of making a high frequency dome shift highs, but excellent for the enthusiastic volume-user as there's no
voice coil to blow
The T-1000 is futuristic in appearance : the cabinet is pretty darn heavy at 7kg. This weight is not due to the gold-plated binding posts
to the rear and can't be attributed to any esoteric drive units. No, it's the cabinets themselves. They are made out a material called
ResinRock - a creation of Mordaunt-Short, ResinRock allows the makers to effectively cast a speaker box in stone, albeit infused with
vibration-absorbent material like strands of chopped rubber filaments. This makes for hugely dense, inert cabinets that resist vibration
and add greatly to potential sound quality
